Halo

Born with Down syndrome (or Trisomy 21) and a little more than four months old, Halo was recovering from a critical, open-heart, atrioventricular canal repair procedure when her parents were informed they could no longer see her or even be on hospital grounds.

They see only what they can see--

or choose to see:

A file.

A checklist.

A bio mom.

Just another case to manage.

But she and I see every shade of joy and sorrow,

knowing not what's promised us tomorrow.
